Product Alert

  • Peeled Pumpkin – Still very expensive in price. Limited quantities of  large grey Pumpkin for peeling.
  • Baby Spinach – Have been affected by rains in Victoria over the last week. Total supply cannot be guaranteed and quality will be inconsistent. 
  • Bananas – Have come back in price and will continue to drop from now on.
  • Pumpkin – Japanese Pumpkin and Grey Pumpkin are new season from Queensland and high in price. Will remain expensive until the end of January when Pumpkin starts from N.S.W and Northern Victoria. Grey pumpkin is especially expensive as processors are buying everything for peeling.
  • Limes – Continue to be expensive due to acute shortage Australia wide supply cannot be guaranteed. Lemons which are normally expensive this time of year are good value for this week but will be heading up in price.
  • Continental Parsley – Has started to go to seed and has become hard to source. Bunches will be coming in smaller.
  • Passionfruit – Crops have been hit with heavy rains over the last few weeks and will be expensive until the end of next week.
  • Strawberries – Have been hit hard by poor weather in Victoria and will be only average in quality and hard to procure for the next 2 -3 weeks.

 

GOOD NEWS

 

  • Apricots,  Peaches and Nectarines - Now available and quality is reasonable for this time of year. Prices have reduced and will continue to do so over the next few weeks.
  • Beans - Lots of wonderful quality beans being sent to us from Gippsland. Prices are good too.
  • Broccoli – Still good quality and priced very well.
  • Cauliflowers – Well priced and of good quality.
  • Cucumbers – Cucumbers are still good value and good quality this week.
  • Eggplant – Reasonable quality and good value for this week.
  • Iceberg Lettuce – Plenty of new season Victorian Iceberg Lettuce available and of reasonable value. There is cheaper Iceberg Lettuce around but are soft and overall quality is poor.
  • Squash – Coming from Mildura now.  Good buy for this week.
  • Zucchini – All Victorian stock now. Quality and price is great. 

 

NOT SO GOOD NEWS

 

  • Avocadoes – Have risen in price as New Zealand fruit is almost finished and Northern New South Wales Coast is only just starting.
  • Asparagus – Asparagus have risen in price due to increased demand in the lead up to Christmas.
  • Grapes – Imported Red and Green Grapes will be finished by the end of  next week. Prices are still fairly high and shelf life will be reduced.
  • Carrots – Heavy rains while crops were planting has led to Carrots being short in supply now. Medium and Large Carrots will be up in price from now until Christmas
  • Mandarins –All Mandarins will be finished for the year in the next week. Will have Honey Murcott Mandarins only from now on.Quality will start to diminish from now on.
  • Oranges – Navel Oranges are starting to finish up for the year. Quality will be affected and prices will be rising over the next few weeks. Valencia Oranges will be starting next week, but quality will not be good enough for 2 -3 weeks. 
  • Rockmelons – Are relatively high in price now and will stay up for the next 2 -3 weeks. Honeydew melon are a better valued alternative.
  • Onions – Red and Brown Onions still up in price they are cheaper Onions around but are old and shoot
